Construction Industry SMME Short Course
For managers and supervisors of SMMEs entering the construction industry
About this Program
The Construction Industry Small, Medium, and Micro-sized Enterprise (SMME) Short Course is designed to better equip managers and supervisors entering the construction industry. This entry-level program emphasises core skills, basic principles, and best practices through a comprehensive 3-day training session comprising 9 modules.
The construction industry has identified and supported the need for this program, which can be integrated into company SMME mentorship programs and claimed under Skill Development. It addresses a gap not covered by other recognised training platforms, helping to mitigate the risks and costs associated with unproductive SMMEs and non-compliance.
At present the cost of managing unproductive SMMEs and the risk of their non-compliance is factored into project risk. A reduction in linked items such as lag on construction program, rework cost, supervision or material cost should contribute to the project vitals and thus be off-set against training expenditure.
Key Features of the Program Include:
Core Skills and Best Practices: Focus on essential skills, foundational principles, and industry best practices.
Interactive Learning: Combination of information sessions, practical application, and conceptual assessment.
Industry Examples: Real-world examples to contextualise the material, enhancing relevance and comprehension.
